Nordic Talks japan textile industry and circular economy

Circular Economy and the Textile Industry: the Case of Fashion and SDG#12

This talk aims to explore models and solutions for sustainable textile industries, through research, material development, and changing mindsets.

Abandoning the old, unsustainable “take-make-waste” linear economy is key to solving the climate and biodiversity crisis. Circular economy solutions are needed to safeguard biodiversity and contribute to achieving the SDGs, in particular, SDG 12 on responsible production and consumption. We will highlight how the fashion industry can shape a circular economy from within. We will also take a closer look at the dialogue between the fashion industry, civil society and textile recycling companies and how the fashion industry sees their sustainable choices as a marketing tool.
